To keep 2 inch spacing between the tracks as well as keeping the track an easily manageable length that is the length that works. When ordering the track we suggest at least 10% over what you think you need as you will have overage and if you order to the exact foot you will probably end up short

For longer runs between you lights you may need the help of a Data Extender. When placed between lights strings with a distance of 6 – 10 Feet or more the Data extender acts as a Null Pixel and renews the Data Signal and sends it on to the next Light String.
